Professor Bernhard Fuehrer

In this lecture Bernhard Fuehrer discusses some conceptual issues regarding the transmission of images and perceptions of Master Kong, aka Confucius, based on various readings of his alleged utterances as handed down in written sources for over two millennia.

Bernhard Fuehrer is Professor of Sinology at the Department of the Languages and Cultures of China and Inner Asia and Associate Dean (Research) in the Faculty of Languages and Cultures. He works on the reception of the traditional Chinese canon, traditional Chinese hermeneutics, the history of Sinology and a number of other fields including traditional philology and Hokkien. He is a Distinguished Adjunct Researcher at Renmin University, Beijing, and an Honorary Research Fellow at the Chinese Department of the Chinese University, Hong Kong.
