Dr Seng Tee Lee

Dr Seng Tee Lee was awarded an Honorary Fellowship from SOAS in 2001 in recognition of his life-long generosity and service to higher education. He has been a generous supporter and benefactor of a number of academic and research institutions worldwide. SOAS has been fortunate to benefit from Dr Lee's generous support in the past for a number of projects, including Chinese studies and the world-renowned SOAS Library.

Dr Lee was educated at the Anglo-Chinese School in Singapore and the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr Lee is a Director of the Lee Group of Companies - Lee Rubber Company, Lee Pineapple Company, Singapore Investments and the Lee Foundation, based in the Republic of Singapore.

As a keen supporter of the arts, Dr Lee has served many cultural institutions in roles that include committee member of the Singapore Branch of the Malayan Nature Society, board member of the Singapore National Museum and advisor to the East Asia Institute at Cambridge University.

Dr Lee's philanthropic activities have included supporting projects at universities including Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, Cambridge, Bristol, Sydney and the National University of Singapore. His is an Honorary Fellow of Wolfson College, Cambridge, Oriel College, Oxford and a member of Common Room of All Souls, Oxford. In recognition of his generosity and public service, Dr Lee has received numerous awards, including Honorary Fellowships from The British Academy and the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. He has been conferred Honorary degrees by the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, the University of Wellington in New Zealand and the Washington University in St. Louis, USA.
