About SOAS

Outreach Facilitation at SOAS University of London

The London-wide activities of SOAS are facilitated by a variety of School centres and offices which have been established to encourage and organise outreach activities.

SOAS Regional Centres

Eight regional centres including Africa, Near and Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Central Asia and the Caucuses and China, Japan and Korea, co-ordinate regional expertise and enhance academic and outreach activities on each region. They each have an extensive range of contacts and organise programmes of seminars, workshops and conferences to provide up-to-date and in-depth knowledge and lively debate on contemporary movements and events. SOAS Enterprise

The provision of School expertise for activities such as tailored briefings, and consultancy work for government, commerce, law and the media and the on-line data base on available expertise is managed by academic and business development staff of SOAS Enterprise. SOAS Language Centre

A team of over hundred highly-trained native speakers in the Language Centre provide classes and training for individuals, companies and government agencies to acquire and develop a wide variety of African and Asian language skills. More information about the SOAS Language Centre.

SOAS Schools Liaison

SOAS employs a Widening Participation Co-ordinator and Schools Liaison Officer to facilitate links with local schools and to encourage the recruitment of local students. More information about Widening Participation at SOAS.


The Department for Finance and Management Studies (DeFiMS) offers graduate professionals in London tailored courses in modern specialist knowledge and skills to meet and understand the major challenges in policy and management from new developments in finance, globalisation and new technology. Individual professional courses provide opportunities for intensive study in specialist areas of finance, management and public policy. More information about DeFiMS

SOAS Library and Information Services

The School library is an important central London resource for organisation and individual consultation and a variety of information services is available to clients of SOAS Library. Among the organisations using SOAS for research purposes are charities, media forms, auction houses, law firms and government institutions. More information about the SOAS Library.

SOAS Conference Facilities

SOAS, with lecture theatres, seminar and social rooms on two campuses, provides a convenient central London location to host local conferences, exhibitions, corporate hospitality events, community meetings, social functions and cultural performances. London Higher Education Consortium

In order to strengthen and expand existing London links with local institutions, organisations and schools, SOAS has joined the London Higher Education Consortium (LHEC) to develop a broader civic role, to raise awareness of and address issues of common and community concern, to work more closely with a range of London partners and to collectively engage with London's new political and institutional leadership.
