Welcome to the SOAS BLE support pages
General Information and Background
The BLE is a Virtual Learning Environment, which is a web based system providing teaching and learning via the internet and designed for ease of use by people with varying levels of IT expertise. All you need is a web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Safari), an internet connection and your password. You can access it anywhere from the world 24/7.
The BLE can be accessed via the Bloomsbury Learning Environment link on the home page of the SOAS website or directly via http://ble.soas.ac.uk
SOAS works closely with the other colleges in the Bloomsbury Consortium – the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHYM), Birkbeck and the Institution of Education (IoE) to benefit from shared technical support, common training courses for academic and technical staff and the sharing of ideas and best practice. Find out more about the Bloomsbury collaboration here.
SOAS will be upgrading the BLE in late July. The new version will improve some of the functionalities such as the drag and drop tool which will be automatically enabled in all your courses; better and clear icons for resources and files. The main difference will be an increase in speed and better back-end functionality.
