Screening and Assessment

One to One Tutorial Support
Tutorial support for dyslexic students / students with specific learning difficulties is provided by a specialist support tutor in the Learning and Teaching Unit or by external tutors. Contact the Disability Adviser for details at disabilities@soas.ac.uk
Library Services

Quiet rooms and specialised computer programmes
There are three dedicated rooms, each with a computer and a range of software programmes to assist with reading, essay planning and writing. Contact the disability office for more information.
Counselling
Some students may have difficulty coming to terms with their own and other people’s varying reactions to a diagnosis of dyslexia or other specific learning difficulty. To book an appointment with a student counsellor email counsellors@soas.ac.uk
Examinations
If your assessment report recommends that you should have extra time or other special arrangements in exams, contact the Disability Office as soon as possible in the academic year. They will need to see a copy of your report so please remember to bring it with you.
Dealing with Student Finance England and communicating with SOAS staff
Zoë or Angie can help you in your dealings with Student Finance England. They will also liaise with academic, library, exams office and other staff on your behalf, if you wish.
