School students hold mock Security Council debate and experience language tasters as part of UN Day at SOAS

On Thursday 6 November, 30 school pupils from Deptford Green School, Northumberland Park Community School and Guru Nana Sikh Academy attended a day of activities to coincide with the United Nations 69th anniversary.

SOAS's first MOOC

SOAS, in partnership with the University of London International Academy and Coursera, has opened for registration its first 'MOOC' (Massive Open Online Course) entitled 'Understanding Research Methods'.   To date, over 16,800 students have enrolled. The MOOC will start on 2nd June 2014 and run for six weeks.

Young teens ‘buddy up’ with SOAS students to learn about university life and languages

A group of SOAS, University of London students took part in the IntoUniversity Buddy programme, designed to offer young students the opportunity to work with aspirational adults at university and learn more about studying subjects at a higher level.

Bloomsbury Online Submission Event

This event will focus on different online submission methods and online grading. There will be a mix of pedagogical approaches, the use of Turnitin, Grademark and other online peer assessment tools.

School 'meets expectations' in Institutional Review

The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) has awarded SOAS a set of positive judgements following the Institutional Review carried out week of 4 March. The QAA found that SOAS met UK expectations in all four categories: academic standards, quality of student learning opportunities, enhancement of learning opportunities and quality of information.

Sixthformers at SOAS Step-On Language workshop Higher languages workshop for London school pupils
Sixth formers from schools all over London converged on SOAS, University of London for a conference on language studies. Part of SOAS' Step On programme, which supports state school pupils into higher education, the conference was delivered by current SOAS language students.
