Research Student Study Support
Academic Development Directorate offers a range of generic skills training courses, workshops and events for students at different stages of PhD research at SOAS.

One-to-One Support for Research Students
The Academic Development Directorate is able to offer occasional one-to-one support and feedback sessions of up to 45 minutes to doctoral students on a range of academic research and writing issues, including:
- Planning and structure
- Editing
- Academic writing style and tone
- Referencing and citation of sources
- The PhD upgrading process
- Drafting questionnaires and interview question
Students should note that this is NOT a proofreading service. ADD is also unable to offer advice on subject-specific issues relating to the content of the thesis, since this is the responsibility of the student’s thesis supervisor.
