Series: Research Skills Courses

This is a three-week course designed to help PhD students in an advanced stage of their programme in consolidating their data and writing up their theses. Those who sign up are expected to attend all three sessions. Participants are also strongly encouraged to bring their theses-in-progress so that in the second half of each session - or what we call a ‘writing retreat’ - they will have a chance to apply what they have learnt to their own work.

  • Week 1: Where am I now?
  • Week 2: Changing gears
  • Week 3: Time to draw the line

The key to a successful completion is to realise when to draw the line to wrap up and move on, understanding that a PhD project is only the beginning of your research career. In this last session, participants will devise an exit plan and consider a quality control mechanism in the final editing process.
