Where to go for help

There are many sources of academic help and information within the School. See individual websites for more information.

Each faculty has a student support office where staff can help you with any questions you have about your course and put you in contact with your academic tutor and personal tutor. These offices are all situated in the main (Philips or College) buildings.

Email and Computing

The Computer Support Desk is situated in Library Reception (Floor E). You can contact the support desk by phone on internal extension 4950 or email helpdesk@soas.ac.uk. Download the Quick Guide to IT Services for Students for more information.

English Language Support

IFCELS (International Foundation Courses and English Language Studies) offers pre-sessional and in-sessional support to non-native speakers of English.

Study Support

The Academic Development Directorate provides workshops, one-to one tutorials and help-yourself resources on study skills.

Dyslexia/Dyspraxia Support

The SOAS Student disability officer provides support to students with disabilities, from when they first apply to when they graduate. For all queries related to disability, dyslexia or dyspraxia email disabilities@soas.ac.uk

Student Services

For information on matters relating to counselling, disability and welfare.

Welfare Office

The Welfare Officers are available to provide advice on any matter other than academic content. This includes financial problems and budgeting, immigration, visa, tax, part-time employment. Contact welfare@soas.ac.uk

Counselling service

The counselling service is available to see any student on personal, emotional or psychological issues which may be affecting their study and their wellbeing.

The SOAS Library

The library web pages contain information about using SOAS Library, its collections and electronic resources, with links to useful external sites including subject guides and other libraries.

Careers

SOAS Careers Service helps all current undergraduate and postgraduate students of SOAS, plus GradClub members, in developing all aspects of their career management and job hunting skills.
