MSc Finance (major: Financial Sector Management)

Studying the MSc Finance (major: Financial Sector Management) was a remarkable experience. The knowledge I gathered through my two years of study (2008 -2009) was above expectation and the learning materials were very informative and relevant. I was fortunate to have registered for this degree during a time when the world was experiencing a global financial crisis. Most of the courses within the degree have so many case studies that one can relate to real life experience.

I was also fortunate that my daily work activities at the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) of South Africa and Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) were focusing on valuating and financing of mining projects. My work at the IDC and DBSA made it easy for me to integrate the course materials into my job, which focuses on debt and equity finance as well as corporate credit risk analysis of the mining and manufacturing businesses. The degree at CeFiMS has empowered me to be more efficient when evaluating the funding of the project as well as structuring the projects in a most efficient way from the lending point of view. I must say it was one of the best decisions that I ever took to supplement my engineering background by studying and completing the MSc Finance with the Centre for Financial and Management Studies.
