WARNING ABOUT FAKE UKBA CALLS
Students at a number of UK universities have received calls from individuals who claim they work for the UK Border Agency, giving a false name and return phone number. These calls are not from the UK Border Agency. The caller may appear to be genuine and convincing and explain that there is a serious problem with your immigration status, and that you need to send a payment as soon as possible to prevent further action including deportation. If you receive such a call, please do not give personal information or make any payment.
The UKBA website has further information on the scam.
Nationals of countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA)/ Switzerland
If you are a non-EU or a Non-EEA (European Economic Area) national you may need to apply for entry clearance to study in the UK before leaving the country where you live. If you are coming to study at SOAS for more than 6 months you should apply for a Tier 4 Adult/General Student visa that will cover the whole period of your study.
All enquiries about visa requirements should be directed to the British Embassy/ High commission or Consulate in your home country. To find out if you need a visa to study in the UK, please go to www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk. Note: US students do require a student visa to come and study in the UK.
International students who have been made an offer to study at SOAS should follow the links on the left for further information.
