Accommodation Costs
Study Abroad students are usually offered accommodation in the SOAS undergraduate student residence, Dinwiddy House. The residence is self-catered i.e. no food is included and there is no cafeteria in the residence.

| Full Year (38 weeks) | £4700.22 GBP |
| Term 1 | £1855.35 GBP* |
| Terms 2&3 | £2844.87 GBP* |
The accommodation charge covers the cost of the study bedroom and is inclusive of all utility bills except telephone charges.
* Please note that the final accommodation cost will be confirmed by Sanctuary Management Services. The above costs are as accurate as possible.
Living Expenses
It is difficult to estimate accurately the cost of living as so much depends on your lifestyle.
How much you spend on living/social expenses will depend on your personal circumstances. There is no denying that London can be an expensive city, but it doesn't have to be. There are many ways to enjoy London without breaking the bank:
- Looking for discount theatre tickets
- Socialising in the SOAS and the University of London Students’ Unions bars and cafes
- Spending time in the city’s parks, markets and museums, all of which are free of charge
- Applying for a student Oyster card for cheap travel on the tube and bus
- Using your student card for discounts on cinema tickets, food, clothing, drinks etc
The following is offered as a rough guide (per month). Please note that there will be other areas/costs that we have not included and will vary depending on the lifestyle of the student. It is possible to live on less but the following will ensure a reasonable standard of living:
| Expenses | Cost in GBP (£) |
|---|---|
| Laundry | 15-18 |
| Food | 230-275 |
| Entertainment | 40-70 |
| Travel (within London) | 40-90 |
| Telephone | 20-40 |
| Books/stationery/photocopying | 40-70 |
| Clothing | 35-55 |
| Personal expenses | 20-35 |
| Monthly Total | £440+ |
