BA Persian and History
Since coming to SOAS, I have realised it’s not such an easy ice-breaker to start conversations with asking someone where they are from. Asking this question can lead to hours of explanation. You will meet someone from everywhere, with the most different backgrounds, upbringing and views on life. I can say nothing shocks me anymore, walking into SOAS and seeing dancing, live music, home-cooked food being sold, clothes and the list goes on. University experience in SOAS is truly a colourful and unique experience.
Coming to a relatively small university only enhances the teaching interaction you experience. Most of my classes consist of 15 students, and needless to say you get to interact on a more personal level. having to speak up and interact in class was something that I wasn’t use to, but it has helped me build my confidence and become better at having to communicate and express my thoughts.
Nothing can truly describe your own personal SOAS experience, but one thing I can say is that it will be something you will remember for a lifetime and learn from not only your classes, but through life experience while being here. No other University comes close.
