SOAS creates a unique atmosphere that I have never tasted before. I truly love the SOAS community, or what I termed anthropologically as ‘SOAS-ism’.

BA Social Anthropology

As an international student, I am lucky that I could study in the lovely city of London; and moreover, I am proud that I am in SOAS. The school gives me the most exciting experience of study with its openness and variety. SOAS does not only give me the academic life, but also inspires me with ideas of equality, respect and humanity. Basically, the school teaches me how to be a human being, which I think is the most important mission of university education.

The courses here are designed in a flexible way so that students could gain different skills and learning experiences. I like to choose my optional courses from other departments, such as music and linguistics. Also, courses like Independent Study Project are prepared for students to develop their talents fully. Further, the lecturers and tutors are enlightening individuals whose heuristic methods of teaching help me a lot with my studies.

Socially, school life in SOAS is full of fun. The students’ union have lots of events going on every day, I enjoy being involved and making new friends. I am also proud that I could be one of the student ambassadors this year, representing SOAS, helping new student and earning money!

All that in SOAS creates a unique atmosphere that I have never tasted before. I truly love the SOAS community, or what I termed anthropologically as ‘SOAS-ism’. Welcome to join us and hope to see you here!
