Anthropology in London Day 2014
Date: 24 June 2014Time: 9:30 AM
Finishes: 24 June 2014Time: 6:00 PM
Type of Event: Conference
Deadline, Call for Papers:
Abstracts with keywords due Friday, 14th March 2014
The call for papers for Anthropology in London 2014 is now open. We invite abstracts on any area of anthropological investigation you are currently working on.
The event provides a unique opportunity to explore the multiplicity of research directions and connections pursued by anthropologists based in institutions across London. Department-based weekly seminars, the specialization into subfields for teaching and research, and the increasing focus on building links with government, business, and other sponsors means that we are not always aware of colleagues who share research interests and commitments.
The event will focus on emerging research clusters that cut across London anthropology departments, and on promoting dialogue and collaboration for further research. It aims to showcase the diversity of research being done in London departments and to bring people together through shared research directions. This will create a snapshot of ongoing research and allow us to find shared theoretical concepts, thematic areas or epistemological foundations.
We will delve into the diversity pursued by researchers in the London anthropological community to see what ties and links anthropologists together across departments. Rather than speaking to a specific overarching theme, we are calling for paper abstracts that represent your most exciting or current research. Please also submit up to five keywords that you think best describe your paper.
How to apply
Write an abstract of up to 300 words and add 5 keywords to help the organizers group papers into themes and panels. The call is open to all anthropology staff and post-field PhD students, with priority given to anthropologists based in London universities. Please send abstracts to Charlotte Bruckermann at C.Bruckermann@lse.ac.uk by Friday 14th of March 2014.
The conference is organised by the anthropology departments of LSE and and UCL in collaboration with Brunel, Goldsmiths, University of East London, SOAS and LSHTM.
