Boot Camp FAQs

Timing

The Boot Camp runs for 3 days – 26th to 28th March. There will be mini-seminars and activities from 9-5pm at SOAS and additional tasks to complete during the evenings. It depends on how quickly you do these, how innovative you are etc as to what time you will finish each day. You must be available for all 3 days, as you will be working as part of a team.

Tasks

You will participate in a range of tasks around sales, marketing, team building, leadership, presentation skills – all of which are designed to test your boundaries but are really not that scary. They can be used as great examples in interviews or on application forms.

Dress Code

We don’t expect you in a business suit but likewise we don’t want you scruffy. You will also be given a Boot Camp t-shirt that will need to be worn at certain times.

Equipment

If you have a laptop it may be useful to bring it along, however it is not essential and you can always use the PC labs at SOAS.

Deposit

Your deposit needs to be paid to F401 and you need to complete the application form. Places will be allocated on a strictly first come, first served basis. Your £20 is fully refundable if you complete the 3 days of the Boot Camp. If you drop out for any reason we will not be able to refund your deposit. Once we have allocated places, we will operate a wait list so if you are unable to attend and we can find a replacement, you will then receive your deposit back.

Who will run the Boot Camp?

The Boot Camp is an Enterprise Office initiative and will be run by Claire Hardesty. Sessions will be delivered by a variety of people – alumni, corporate companies, enterprise organisations and charities. These people all volunteer their time to enable us to run the Boot Camp for you at no charge and we are very grateful for their support.

Judging and Prizes

Each individual activity will be judged and a winning team announced. Where possible, judges will give feedback. There will be a final presentation to a panel of judges. The winning team of up to 5 people will get £1,000 and will feature on our wall of fame (once we’ve created the artwork!)

Certificate

You will receive a certificate of participation
