A Half-Day Conference to be held in London on 26 May 2010

To launch a 12-month period of activity leading to the May 2011 Camel Conference @ SOAS there will be a one-day mini-conference at the School of Oriental and African Studies examining, documenting and celebrating camel cultures from around the world.

Speakers:

  • John Hare [Wild Camel Protection Foundation]: The Wild Bactrian Camel: A critically endangered species;
  • Stefan Sperl [SOAS]: Images of the Camel in Arabic Poetry
  • Sally Wren [ZSL]: London Zoo's 'Edge' Project
  • Adel Aulaqi [SOAS]: Remembering Camels
  • Ed Emery [SOAS]: A Documentation of World Camel Cultures: Country situation reports
