Options with your degree

One way to generate ideas when making career choices is to start with your degree subject. The following resources will give you more details on what you might want to do:

  • Options with your subject - information and ideas for the career opportunities that your qualification opens up for you. Students studying Languages and Cultures of Africa, China & Inner Asia, Japan & Korea, Near & Middle East and South Asia can pick up information sheets relating to these subjects at the Careers Service.
  • Destinations of Leavers of Higher Education (DLHE) statistics - information on what others with similar qualifications have gone on to do. National data is available online and information on SOAS alumni is available at the Careers Service.
  • Graduate Careers Case Studies - Find out what former SOAS students are doing now.
  • What Do Graduates Do? - Based on the DLHE data, this provides a summary of national destinations across 33 subject areas.
  • The Take an Alum for Coffee scheme enables students to contact and seek advice from alumni already working in the sectors, industries or roles that they may be interested in pursuing.
