The values of many of those who have taken the first steps into the academic world often do not coincide with those of the business world. However many academics have ideals and ideas that could work in a business context. This is where Social Enterprise comes in, with a social objective that is core to the functioning of the organisation and in which surpluses are used to further that objective rather than to maximise profit for shareholders. This workshop will provide an opportunity to reflect on the values that are important to your research, introduce an understanding and concept of business that aligns better with researcher motivations and enable participants to practice communicating ideas with passion and drive.
