Those trained in research have many options for obtaining income. One of these is to undertake work as a consultant in their field. This can be done independently, or, for those who are also interested in pursuing an academic career, it can be done alongside with the added benefit of promoting the university. Working as a consultant can also benefit you by enabling you to develop useful skills you might not otherwise acquire. Different consultancy projects require different levels of expertise, so as a PhD student or postdoctoral researcher being asked to carry out this work you would need to know what level is required. This workshop aims to demystify consultancy and to enable you to identify which consultancy work might be suitable for you and how to get it.
