ICRC are seeking linguists to work in their overseas operations. Expatriate interpreters work predominantly in the field of detention, which entails inspecting and monitoring the treatment and conditions of persons detained due to armed conflict.ICRC are currently recruiting for speakers of the following languages: Pashto, Farsi/Dari, Hindi/Urdu, Arabic, Khmer, Burmese, Nepali, Thai, Tamil, Sinhala, Turkish and Amharic. However, this presentation is open to all SOAS students and GradClub members who would like to find out more about the ICRC's work. The representatvie attending from the ICRC is the Recruitment Delegate, Liz Harris (a SOAS alum).
