Salimata Diop is an art consultant and curator specialising in African contemporary art.
She holds a Masters degree in History and Business of Art and Collecting from IESA and the University of Warwick.
Salimata has worked in several major institutions for African contemporary art in London, including Bonhams auctioneers, Tiwani Contemporary, and The African Arts Trust.
Now working independently, she travels widely in Africa where she works on several promising independent initiatives. She became a lecturer in the Masters of Arts in History and Business of the Contemporary Art Market founded by IESA, the John Moores University of Liverpool, and the Whitechapel Gallery, and recently worked as the Art Advisor for the first series of the acclaimed documentary African Masters.
SENEGAL'S ART TODAY will introduce the audience to the fast changing landscape of Senegalese art. Salimata Diop will explore the recent reforms in the Dak’Art Biennale management and vision and several audacious initiatives led by artists and their supporters.
She will take the audience on a virtual tour around the practices of the most dynamic Senegalese artists.
