Study Material
Developed by subject experts, the module materials are designed to meet all your study requirements. We encourage you to follow up further interests and explore other information more widely, but the material we provide is comprehensive and sufficient for the required elements of each module.
CeDEP is continually reviewing and updating the resources available to you as well as incorporating innovative methods for making the learning experience more fulfilling.
For each module you will be sent a comprehensive study pack before the start of the study year. The details will vary from module to module, but a typical set of materials will include:
Detailed study guide
All of our modules use a core text which is specially written and this will take you through your self-directed study. Exercises, assignments and other activities, such as self-assessment questions, film clips and animations are included to help you with learning. Most module study guides are now provided in electronic format, some examples of which are available here:
- C116 Economics and Institutions for Development (Unit 1)
- C124: Climate Change and Development: (Unit1)
Books and key readings
Most modules also include other textbooks, and key extracts and articles, which accompany the core text. A wide range of sources are provided as required readings. Information is also supplied suggesting sources of further reading as well as links to relevant web pages.
Supplementary study materials
These are included where appropriate, and include items such as computer software.
Study calendar
This will help you to plan your study, and highlights deadlines such as those for Tutor Marked Assignments.
Library access
As a CeDEP student it is possible to gain access to the University of London International Programmes’ online library resources.
Monthly ‘e-digest’
Each month module tutors send students an ‘e-digest’ which highlights points raised in discussion, new issues or other topics relevant to the module and units being studied.
