Learning Support

There are numerous opportunities for receiving support from tutors and CeDEP staff throughout the study year. Communication is increasingly carried out via email and CeDEP’s Online Learning Environment.

It is now easier than ever for students to contact tutors and their peers electronically to gain help and support. Tutors are allocated to each module and are available to answer queries, promote discussion and offer feedback during the study year (February to October).

CeDEP tutors also provide a monthly update/e-digest, to summarise activity on the online learning environment, answer any frequently asked questions and draw attention to topical events which relate to their module. These are posted online and also emailed to all students to ensure they reach those with poor Internet connectivity.

An opportunity for specific tutorial feedback on students’ understanding and interpretation of the subject matter is offered in the form of Tutor Marked Assignments (TMAs). For all modules (except R106, C123, C125 and C263), there is at least one TMA which you can complete voluntarily for informal assessment. In the case of the Research Methods module (R106), assignments are assessed for the final module marks.

Library

CeDEP provides its postgraduate students with a complete set of study materials for each module. However, should students wish to follow up on particular interests in more depth, especially in relation to the MSc dissertation, they are advised to investigate local library facilities.

Details of libraries which have, in the past, been prepared to offer their facilities to External students can be found on the International Programmes website.

The External System also offers students access to its Online Library. This provides a range of full-text, multidisciplinary databases, as well as journal articles, book reviews and reports to which the University subscribes on students’ behalf.

Details about how to register for access to the online library are provided by the International Programmes library registration page.

If you are already registered, you can access the online library via the External Library Homepage.
