Why Study with CeDEP

Academic excellence

Research provides the foundation for all of our teaching. Our academic staff have extensive international experience in research and postgraduate education, publishing their work and sharing with other academics, decision-makers and opinion-formers.

Experience

With more than 2,800 registered students from over 120 countries, SOAS is the largest provider of distance learning postgraduate programmes offered by the University of London International Programmes. CeDEP’s subject range is unique and, with over 20 years’ experience, we have acquired a strong reputation for research and innovation in distance learning.

Opportunity to progress

CeDEP provides the opportunity for continuous study and advancement over a number of years. With entry at MSc, Postgraduate Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate, or via the Individual Professional Award, the design of our study programmes facilitates progression between these levels.

Supported learning

CeDEP’s programme content and materials provide students with a comprehensive and high quality learning experience. Our tutors provide module-specific teaching, help with academic queries, promote discussion of up-to-date concepts and issues, and provide monthly updates via email. Our Student Support, Learning Technology and Production teams are always available to offer you help and advice when you need it.

Bologna compatibility

The Bologna Process is an intergovernmental initiative of nearly 50 signatory countries. It has the broad aims of increasing the effectiveness and global competitiveness of European higher education through increasing transparency, comparability and harmonisation of national higher education provision and operations, and increasing student mobility. The common structure of higher education is based on a framework of European Credit and Transfer System (ECTS) units. CeDEP programmes are compatible with the framework. Learning outcomes are consistent with UK and international criteria, and the Masters programmes have been rated at 108 ECTS units (80 ECTS for the Diploma, 40 for the Certificate and 10 for each Individual Professional Award module).

Professional recognition

The MSc and Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Management is annually assessed and approved by the Institute for Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA). Completion of either of these qualifications can provide exemption from the training requirement for Associate Membership of the Institute.
