Daryl Press is Associate Professor of Government at Dartmouth, and an expert on U.S. national security policy – in particular, the changing global balance of power, and security competition in the Persian Gulf and in East Asia.  Professor Press has published widely in popular outlets such as Foreign Affairs, the New York Times, and The Atlantic Monthly, as well as in academic journals.  He is the author of Calculating Credibility: How Leaders Assess Military Threats, a book on credibility and decision-making during military crises (Cornell University Press, 2005).  Professor Press has consulted for the Defense Department for nearly twenty years and gives frequent presentations to policy audiences – including at the departments of Defense, State, to congressional staffers, NSC staffers, and at U.S. regional combatant commands.  He has taught at Dartmouth for 12 years, and he lives in Hanover with his wife and their two children.
