 The International Studies and Diplomacy Programme is designed mainly for those engaged in or planning to embark upon a professional career requiring international expertise; as a diplomat or member of a government departments such as foreign trade; as an international civil servant or member of a non-governmental organisation in, for example, the development aid or humanitarian fields; as an employee of an international company or the media. However the programme will suit those wishing for whatever reason to deepen their academic and practical understanding of international affairs. The study of international affairs and contemporary diplomatic practice as offered at the School of Oriental and African Studies provides a unique educational opportunity for individuals interested in acquiring a better understanding of the nature of contemporary global issues.

The Globalization and Corporate Development Programme is designed for those engaged with or planning a career in international professional contexts relating to the political and economic management and regulation of multinational enterprises. Whether as an advisor, researcher or manager with multinational enterprises, an international civil servant, a member of non-profit organisations or government departments, or a future academic, this interdisciplinary programme specifically addresses the requirements of those wishing to deepen their theoretical and practical understanding of the role and workings of large corporations in the global economy and international affairs.

SOAS offers an education which goes beyond the Euro-centric approach which has dominated such programmes in the past. It is able to do this because the width and depth of its scholarly resources make it the leading centre for the study of Asia and Africa in Europe.
