Thank you to the staff and students who have worked with the Communications team in the past twelve months to promote SOAS’ wide range of achievements and to offer expert comment, analysis and debate the issues affecting our regions. Here is a selection of the faculty, student and research stories that made the headlines in 2013.

SOAS in the media 13 December 2013

Professor Stephen Chan and Dr Wayne Dooling have continued to been interviewed extensively on Nelson Mandela, coverage includes Al Jazeera and all BBC Radio regional stations, including BBC World Service. Dr Lukas Nickel's research on the sculptures of the First Emperor in China's influence from the west was published on Live Science, NBC News and Daily Mail.

SOAS Photo Competition 2013

Launched last year with over 1400 entries from over 50 countries, the SOAS photo competition is an opportunity for people to submit images that highlight the intellectual, cultural and inspiring work of this unique institution and showcase the regions SOAS works within. This year we are pleased to be working with the National Geographic and a panel of experts to arrive at our winners.
