Module overview
Students are appointed a supervisor by the module convenor in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures. Students are expected to carry out independent study on an approved subject related to East Asian topic covered by staff in this department.
Objectives and learning outcomes of the module
At the end of a module, a student should be able to demonstrate the ability to carry out research using an East Asian language and English language materials, and provide an orderly synthesis of their findings.
Workload
A maximum of five hours’ supervision given throughout the term/year.
Scope and syllabus
The module involves writing a 5,000 word essay in English on an approved topic. It provides an opportunity for independent study or research separate from the ISP. The essay will be supervised by a named teacher.
Method of assessment
One 5,000 word essay written in English. (100%). Date of submission will be published on moodle.
