The course is designed to enhance reading skills on advanced level. Students will read selected Korean texts from various fields of Korean Studies and discuss various topics during the class. Emphasis will be placed on learning to read an academic article or daily newspaper.

Prerequisites

Advanced level of Korean, at least successful completion of one-year LYA course in Korea University plus one year language training on reading Korean text.

Objectives and learning outcomes of the course

At the end of this course students should have an advanced working knowledge of reading and discussion skills in Korean.

Workload

Total of 22 weeks teaching with 2 hours classroom contact per week.

Method of assessment

One three-hour written examination (80%) taken in May/June and coursework (20%).
