The course is intended to allow students to read and discuss a Sanskrit text or text genre in addition to the materials covered in the syllabus. The course will allow students to develop specialisations in accordance with their own academic interests. At the end of the course students are expected to have acquired a sufficient familiarity with the text or text genre in question that would allow them to continue work on the special topic independently. (The course is complemented by another half-unit course, ‘Extended essay’, the topic of which should based on the directed readings offered in this course.)

Prerequisites

At least two years or three units of Sanskrit courses.

Workload

A total of 11 weeks teaching with 1 hour contact per week.

 

 

Method of assessment

One two-hour written examination to be taken in May/June (100%).
