Objectives and learning outcomes of the course
The objective of the course is to provide the students with advanced training in academic research and writing, using language sources. This final year unit is the culmination of the research and writing training provided throughout the BA in Tibetan Studies.
This essay based course is aimed at students returning from a Year Abroad in Tibet. At the end of this course, a student should be able to demonstrate clear evidence of undertaking a detailed supervised study of a topic in Tibetan Studies, using language sources. Candidates research their projects with guidance from an appropriate supervisor. This course will be examined by a project of 10,000 words.
The topic must be approved by the undergraduate tutor/course convenor before the student is allowed to embark on this course.
This course cannot be taken with the course unit - 155901342: Independent Study Project in Tibetan Language and Literature.
Workload
10 hours supervision throughout the academic year
Scope and syllabus
The topic of this ISP is left to the student to propose. Once it has been approved by the convenor it is then up to the student to develop it from written and oral sources within the appropriate field of research.
Method of assessment
This course is examined by an essay of 10,000 words due Friday week 1, term 3 (100%).
