Objectives and learning outcomes of the course
The objective of this course is to provide the student with the opportunity to explore significant Burmese-language writing on a specific area of interest (e.g. literary, historical, linguistic, cultural) in greater depth and breadth than more traditional lecture-based courses permit. The student will thereby gain both insight into Burmese perspectives on the subject (which may be significantly different to more familiar English-language perspectives) and a deeper understanding of the Burmese language.
Workload
A total of 22 weeks teaching with 1.5 hours seminar/tutorial per week.Method of assessment
Two essays of 5,000 words each to be submitted on day 1, term 2 and day 1, term 3 (50% each).Suggested reading
