Research Reading

The Research Reading course runs for 4 weeks and aims to offer strategies for dealing with research-driven reading. This course should be useful for all postgraduate students, particularly those who are doing a Masters course and are embarking on their dissertations. By the end of the course, students should be able to employ a more focussed, analytical and independent approach to their reading.

- Sourcing research material
- Reading independently
- Identifying core reading
- Types of reading material
- Using bibliographies and cross referencing
- Using primary and secondary sources
- Evaluating sources
- Note-taking strategies
- Summarising and paraphrasing
