Target Group

This course is aimed at every member of staff at SOAS. It is particularly relevant for Managers of staff who use Display Screen Equipment (DSE) and all staff with responsibilities for carrying out DSE assessment, providing office furniture and accessories, maintaining the physical office environment or implementing HR policies.

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the causes of physical office ergonomics problems and stress
  • Identify and advise on the risks associated with poor working postures
  • Suggest appropriate modifications to improve the working environment
  • Complete display screen equipment checklists efficiently

  • An introduction to The Health and Safety [Display Screen Equipment] Regulations 1992 (as amended 2002)

  • Musculoskeletal problems - causes and solutions

  • An introduction to workstation assessments
  • Practical workstation assessment procedures
