Internationalising the Curriculum (IoE)

Unit value:

This course is designed for practicing teachers in higher education to introduce you to the wide-ranging concept of an internationalised curriculum.  The course will challenge your conceptions of an internationalised curriculum and offer the opportunity to explore curriculum content, teaching and assessment strategies in terms of global perspectives, cultural capabilities and responsible citizenship.  Your exploration will be contextualised within your institutional and disciplinary environments.  By the end of the course you should be familiar with a range of resources and perspectives on Internationalisation of the Curriculum (IoC), have considered approaches to IoC in relation to one of your own programmes, and have thought through how best to utilise your efforts in this area according to your positioning in your institution.

Target Audience

Academics developing, or planning to develop, curricula to prepare graduates for living and working in an international, multi-cultural society.  Participants will need to bring to the session the outline or details of a course (a whole programme not a module) that they wish to internationalise.  They may also with to familiarise themselves with any institutional or faculty policies about IoC.
