Online Student Assessment and Feedback: Surveys and Tests on the BLE

Target Audience:
Any new or existing BLE users on the SOAS staff. A basic knowledge of the BLE is useful but not essential.
Course Content:
The Test and Survey tools on the BLE provide an easy way for instructors to create and carry out formative and summative assessments online, as well as to get student feedback. The Survey tools works especially well for large classes where a paper-based survey would be impractical.
In this hands-on session, Sarah Spells will demonstrate some of the ways she has been using the test and survey tools for developing students’ legal research skills. You will then have a chance to try creating a test and/or survey of your own.
Aims and Objectives:
- To introduce participants to the basic functionality of the survey and test tools on the BLE
- To demonstrate some examples of their use
- To discuss some of the benefits and challenges of using discussion boards and how they can motivate your students and enhance their learning
- To practise using a discussion board on the BLE
