Using Audio on the BLE: Create Your Own Podcasts

Unit value:

Target Audience:

Any new or existing BLE users on the SOAS staff. A basic knowledge of the BLE and/ or podcasting is not essential.

Course Content:

A podcast is simply an audio broadcast that has been converted to an MP3 file or other audio file format for playback in a digital music player (either your computer, or a portable device such as an i-Pod). Although podcasts are mostly verbal, they may contain music, images and video.

In this hands-on workshop you will have the opportunity to create your own podcast that can be played on an iPod or MP3 player. The session will take you through the steps involved in planning and creating an audio podcast. Participants will be able to use simple audio recording devices and will then capture the audio on to a computer before editing it and outputting it to mp3 format. The workshop will cover:

  • Planning audio
  • Capturing audio
  • Editing audio
  • Converting to mp3

Aims and Objectives:

  • To introduce participants to the basic concept of podcasting
  • To practise creating and editing podcasts
  • To demonstrate how they can be integrated into your course on the BLE
