Course-buidling Tips and Tricks: Creating Engaging Courses for your Students on the BLE

Unit value:

Target Audience:

Any new or existing BLE users on the SOAS staff. A basic knowledge of the BLE and basic course management (adding and editing content, restructuring folders etc) would be useful.

Course Content:

How can you engage your students online and encourage them to use the BLE, whilst ensuring your courses are pedagogically sound? What problems or issues have you had in using your courses on the BLE? What are the best ways to organise course materials online?

Come along to this informal session to hear and share some ideas and best practice on how both you and your students can get the most benefit from working online.

Dr Roberto Mazza, who was highly commended in last year’s Director’s Teaching Prize, will be discussing and demonstrating some of the strategies he has been using on the BLE with his own courses.

Aims and Objectives:

  • To discuss some of the benefits and challenges of course construction
  • To consider the most effective ways of constructing and arranging your course online
  • To demonstrate some examples of best practice
  • To practise using the tools on the BLE
