Target Audience:
This session is open to anyone - including, but not limited to, those staff who have a specific learning difficulty or other condition and may find specialised software helpful. The course is also aimed at those who work with students who have a specific learning difficulty or disability.
Course Content:
This course serves as an introduction to some of the specialist software that may be used by staff or students with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties or disabilities. Nic Christodoulou will provide a demonstration of how to use this software.
This will include:
- Inspiration for mind mapping (a visual planning technique);
- Read & Write TextHelp! (a sophisticated text to speech application also including thesaurus & homophone checker)
There will also be a short demonstration of the adjustments that can be made to a standard Microsoft Windows Operating System to customise the display for better access.
Colleagues should also get the chance to use the software during this session.
