Dedicated Training Day
- Unit value:
Dedicated Training Days Trial
As it has proved difficult in the past for some members of both academic and professional services staff to attend training and development activities during term time, we have decided to trial a number of 'Dedicated Training days' in the next academic session. On these days, a variety of training and development events will be offered in non-teaching weeks, on different days of the week to make it easier for all staff to devote time to their continuing professional development. Staff are expected to be available on those days by planning their work, visit and research schedules around these dates. This is particularly important where there is mandatory training related to a post. Line managers are asked to support this initiative wherever possible.
The dedicated training days are:
- an opportunity to put aside time for your personal and professional development
- an opportunity to attend courses that may be mandatory, or of interest, to you in your position
- scheduled in the School Calendar
- scheduled in non-teaching weeks i.e. before the start of terms 1 & 2, and in the exam period in Term 3.
All staff will be expected to be available to attend relevant courses on these days, so other commitments should be arranged around these dates.
