Specific aims of the module
To introduce students to the study of biodiversity, defining what biodiversity is, how it is perceived, and how it is measured. The module will identify patterns of biodiversity at a range of spatial (local, regional and global) and temporal scales, and will enable students to consider the processes generating and maintaining biodiversity over these scales, alongside the major issues surrounding the conservation of biodiversity for the future.
