Don't be yourself - a workshop in presentation skills

The workshop looks at our public personas. How do we communicate effectively? How do we appear to others? How do we use our voices and avoid losing them? What techniques can we use in order to hold the attention of a large audience? How do we control our nerves? This workshop will attempt to address the issues which you face in the Careers Service when you have to deal with clients and the general public.
The advice 'just be yourself' is all very well, but what if you're not quite sure who yourself is? What if you're different people in different situations or don't particularly want to be 'yourself.' What if 'yourself' is not very confident talking to large groups? The workshop is not embarrassing - you won't be expected to be a tree (!) and you might pick up a few actor tricks that will be useful to you in your work.
