Culinary Culture Events and Classes
The SOAS Food Studies Centre is delighted to announce that they will be piloting a series of evening cookery classes and tutored tastings with renowned chef Monisha Bharadwaj. Each event in the series will start at 6pm with refreshments and a one-hour lecture given by Monisha. Participants will then join in a one-hour cookery class in the school kitchen where they will learn to cook dishes discussed in Monisha’s lecture. Through combined theoretical and practical learning about these foods, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the historical and cultural dimensions of Indian food and foodways. Each evening will conclude with a group discussion as participants share the meal they have themselves prepared in the school’s Russell Restaurant.
