Mikaela Parrack and Imran Khan don't believe in doing things halfway. Though neither has done any long-distance cycling, they have just set out on a 3,000-mile bike ride from the UK to Mali.

The Development Studies Department is pleased to announce that it has been awarded with a Bloomsbury Colleges PhD Studentship for PhD research into HIV and AIDS, human rights and development in sub-Saharan Africa.

RAE results confirm SOAS is leader in Asian Studies

SOAS's Asian Studies submission to the RAE has been a spectacular success. In 2001, along with several other universities we received a 5 rating for Asian Studies, while both Oxford and Cambridge were awarded 5*. To put it simply: we have regained our national pre-eminence in this field of research, and by a significant margin.
