Crisis and Migration: Critical Perspectives - Routledge book project preparatory workshop

THIS EVENT IS ARCHIVED

Type of Event: Workshop

Migration is often viewed as a consequence or a cause of crisis. This workshop develops fresh perspectives on this routine association, critically exploring commonly reported examples of ‘crisis-induced migration’ and ‘migration-induced crises’ around the world, examining how contemporary migration analysis and policy-making deploy the concept of crisis. In doing so, we also explore the roles that various forms and levels of governance play in producing, responding to, and sometimes re-producing these ‘crises of migration’. This is a small closed event: the aim is to discuss overall concepts, theory and challenges regarding crisis and migration, and to discuss writers’ initial ideas and arguments.
