Launch of the U. of Toronto's Re:locations: Journal of the Asia-Pacific World - Call for Papers and Forum Submissions
Based out of the Asian Institute at the University of Toronto, Re:locations: Journal of the Asia-Pacific World is a new peer-reviewed, student-run journal seeking to foster dialogue among student researchers working across disciplines, institutions, and regions in Asia and the Pacific. We invite quality submissions from those conducting research related to the Asia-Pacific world.

Objectives: the overall objectives of the conference are to present the latest research and current debates within the field of Asian studies, to promote transdisciplinary and transcultural exchanges, and to foster international collaborations.

SOAS, University of London and Birkbeck, University of London have been announced as the newest members of the Consortium for the Humanities and the Arts South-East England (CHASE), a research organisation that already has several other leading research universities as members.

Global stateswoman and renowned humanitarian Graça Machel gave an inspirational President’s speech at the 2014 graduation ceremonies of SOAS, University of London, in which she called for worldwide education for women and the end of gender based violence.

The SOAS Academic Summer School 2014 built on the success of last year and doubled student figures. This year's intake of students attended nine courses, covering areas such as development, politics, migration, Jawi, culture and society, law and Arabic.

Richard Fardon, Professor of West African Anthropology and Head of the Doctoral School at SOAS, University of London, has shared the Triennial Award for the best multi-authored book on African Arts published between 2011 and 2013 from the Arts Council of the African Studies Association.
