European Association of Israel Studies
The European Association of Israel Studies (EAIS) is an independent, international and scholarly association devoted to the academic study of Israel. It is politically neutral. The EAIS is committed to rigorous academic scholarship about Israel and high quality research and teaching in this area, as well as to increasing the breadth of study of this important part of a wider understanding of the Middle East.
The EAIS will be based for an initial period of 4 years at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London (SOAS). SOAS is the only Higher Education institution in the UK specialising in the study of Asia, Africa and the Near and Middle East.
In accordance with its charter, the EAIS is run by an Executive Committee. The Executive Committee of the EAIS comprises:
- Professor Colin Shindler, Pears Senior Research Fellow in Israel Studies and Chair of the EAIS, (SOAS, London)
- Professor Rory Miller, Director of the Middle East and Mediterranean Studies Program, (Kings College, London)
- Professor Clive Jones, Chair of Middle East Studies and International Politics, (University of Leeds)
- Dr Amnon Aran, Lecturer in International Politics of the Middle East, (City University, London)
- Professor Raffaella A. Del Sarto, Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, European University Institute, Florence, Italy, and Adjunct Professor in Middle East Studies and International Relations, SAIS Bologna Center, Johns Hopkins University, Bologna, Italy.
- Professor Alain Dieckhoff (CERI/Sciences Po, Paris).
