Biography
Beate Sirota Gordon was 22 years old in February 1946 when as one of 25 members of the Government Section of GHQ she drafted Article 24 of the postwar Japanese Constitution, establishing a basis for the equality of the sexes in Japan. The film, directed by Tomoko Fujiwara, uses Ms Sirota Gordon's experience in drafting this article as the starting-point for an exploration of how women have lived and improved their social status during the 60 years since World War II.
The film is narrated in English, with English sub-titles of some interviews.
Following the screening of the film there will be a panel discussion including Ms Sirota Gordon.
