The Haji Ilkhani Family

The Haji Ilkhani family are the descendants of Hossein Gholi Khan’s full brother, Imam Gholi Khan (known after 1882 as Haji Ilkhani). The 1894, 1909 and 1912 internal Bakhtiari agreements determined that they and the Ilkhani faction would be paramount.

They are focused on here purely as a result of the kindness of the family, who were willing to share their family photos. I have used these to make general points about how Bakhtiari families operated – thereby giving some idea of what it might have been like being a part of one of these complex and interlinked families.
